Reminder to have your say on Citywide traffic safety improvements

The City of Cape Town would like to remind residents, stakeholders and interested groups to have their say on the proposed roll-out of traffic calming measures across the city. As part of the City’s commitment to safer roads and transparent decision-making, the public is encouraged to submit comments, recommendations and input in terms of Section 17 of the Local Government: Municipal Systems Act (Act 32 of 2000). The commenting period opened on Friday, 27 February 2026, and closes on Tuesday, 31 March 2026.

‘The key objective of these traffic calming measures is to improve pedestrian safety, especially around schools where vulnerable road users are most at risk. While the City intends to implement measures at all listed sites, this will depend on available funding. The public participation process remains a vital part of the project, and residents are encouraged to submit their comments,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
